Victory Isn’t Always Easy

Victory Isn’t Always Easy

This painting evolved during worship. I used a credit card to apply the first several layers of paint. I just kept feeling the need to apply the color and then to scrape or wash it off. I didn’t have the chance to clean my brushes or get clean water between services; therefore, the painting was “cleaned” with dirty water during the second service giving it a cloudy appearance. The brush marks made with a striper brush formed a sort of tree at one point. Again, I scraped off the paint. I finished it at home and am very satisfied with the layers of color and the movement of the brushstrokes. One of my fellow worship artists told me between services that she saw it completed twice. It is not easy to see it finished when I am so close to it during worship.
